Mobile TV

Mobile TV

Mobile TV combines two of the most popular consumer products of our time: the mobile phone and the television. Five transmission technologies are receiving a majority of the attention in the Americas – DMB, DVB-H, ISDB-T, MBMS and MediaFLO. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages. With increasing wireless penetration in most countries, Mobile TV has the potential to appeal to the mass market and promises to be a potential revenue generator for key players such as telecom operators, broadcasters, content providers, and equipment manufacturers.

Mobile TV is commercially available across the globe today, in places including the US, Italy, Czech Republic, Korea, Japan, and South Africa. The market is expected to grow worldwide between $US 5 and $27 billion (Source: IBM), with over half a billion mobile TV users by 2010 (Source: Gartner).
